Access to Information and Protection of Privacy

Important Update – New Legislation

On June 11, 2025, the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and their respective regulations were proclaimed, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) was repealed.

In alignment with POPA, 星空影视has consolidated and developed our privacy protection practices into a comprehensive Privacy Management Program. Resources and guidelines on how you can ensure privacy compliance in your work can be found on the Protection of Privacy Page. A link can be found in the list below.

 

Athabasca University is subject to the new Alberta legislation for access to information and protection of privacy. The Access to Information Act and Protection of Privacy Act came into force in June 2025. The Government has information and resources available on their websites in addition to the resources 星空影视has developed. Government of Alberta Resources and links to the legislation can be found here:
