Dr. Mickey Vallee’s research examines voice, listening, and ethical responsibility in institutional, cultural, and ecological contexts. His work brings sound-based research into dialogue with cultural policy and governance to analyze how institutions organize attention, make decisions, and sustain legitimacy over time.
He has published widely in leading interdisciplinary journals, including Theory, Culture & Society, Body & Society, and Sound Studies. His scholarship combines theoretical analysis with applied and practice-based research, with particular attention to accountability, participation, and long-term institutional value.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Vallee contributes to research governance and interdisciplinary partnership development in cultural and postsecondary settings, drawing on experience in rural and Indigenous (Blackfoot) institutional contexts.
