Kathleen (Kate) Leslie is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Disciplines at Athabasca University and an Adjunct Professor at Western University. Dr. Leslie is a registered nurse and lawyer whose program of research focuses on the health workforce, professional regulation, scopes of practice, and health law and policy. She has secured over $1.5M in competitive funding as the nominated principal investigator and over $2.5M in competitive funding as a co-investigator.

Dr. Leslie is currently the principal investigator on a CIHR Team Grant on licensure reforms for internationally educated nurses and she leads the CIHR-funded Health Workforce Evidence Support and Knowledge Mobilization Hub. Dr. Leslie co-led the Canadian team that undertook a global review of health practitioner regulation for the World Health Organization (WHO) and led the first Canadian team to receive a National Council of State Boards of Nursing Center for Regulatory Excellence Grant.
